Lisa Winstanley

Associate Professor at the School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
Lisa Winstanley is an Associate Professor in the School of Art, Design & Media at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. With over 20 years in commercial design practice and more than a decade of international research and teaching, she leads studies on ethical design practices and visual literacy and is the founder of the Design Ethics and Visual Integrity Research Lab (DEVIL). Her scholarly work explores visual plagiarism and interdisciplinary social responsibility through the role of storytelling and visual narrative in design. Through her poster designs, she responds to and comments on current issues and values, using visual communication as a form of critical reflection and public engagement. Her creative practice has earned 80 international awards, including the Red Dot Design Award, with exhibitions in 30 countries at venues like Dongdaemun Design Plaza and Moscow’s State Tretyakov Gallery.
